A major redevelopment of The Low Light took place in 2014 and while work continues to maintain and upgrade some aspects of the facilities every year, the accommodation provided is much more comfortable than in the more distant past.
The observatory, a listed building, sleeps six, in three bedrooms, on comfortable single beds. There is running water and a basic shower and flushing toilet. Electric lighting from solar panels (backed up by gas lighting during low power periods) and a power supply for charging devices. There is a ‘boot room’, comfortable lounge with woodburning stove and well stocked ornithological library and a small ‘office’ space. The dining kitchen has gas cooking, fridges and store room. The outside space includes seating areas, a wood store and the best views for many miles!!!
